Technopreneurship (Assignment 4)

As I understand the word “learning”, it is what we’ve got towards a certain thing that gives us new knowledge, understanding, realizations and ideas that we can use as a weapon as we journey our life.

As i read the commencement address of Steve Jobs, I can say that it was the best commencement i red so far. I felt the excitement, emotions and the mere feelings that made me impressed and amused. I can say that his commencement is a crib of learning. You can get ideas and realizations out of it towards life . He stressed out his life stories as an example that could possibly inspire other people.

Regarding to his first story which was all about connecting the dots, i learned that you can’t be a successful one someday if you don’t look back to your yesterday or to your past. Well of course, every yesterday is a learning that we could use as a weapon for tomorrow. One thing also, every dots signifies the milestones and successess you achieved, so i must learn that in every success i should treasure it and be thankful for having it.

To his second story which was all about love and loss, I learned from it that I should find the things which I really love, the things that catch my interest. I should find the things that I am more capable and suits to my mental capacity because I believe the more I see myself have interest with a certain thing, the more I am inspired to deal with it. I learned also that I must know how to love the things which surrounds me especially my family, friends and studies. For the loss, I know in real world we can’t escape from failures. No one of us experience only successes. If there are successes there are also failures. For every time I fail, I must have to accept it and make use of it as a stepping stone for every success.

To his last story which was all about death, I learned that life is not easy but definitely it is a worth living because behind the pains and challenges we encounter, we learned the best things. No one of us can bring back yesterday for modification so I must have to live my life to the fullest and make every moments of it with full of happiness and satisfaction. Death exempt no one and time will come God will take our lives. So I learned that life will not be complete without death.

Technopreneurship (Assignment 3)

We, young men and women, have a lot of hopes, dreams and ideals. At different moments during the day, we easily find ourselves thinking about the future, setting up our own actions, and hoping for the best. Especially now that we are in College, we are anxious about what we shall do after graduation. We make our plans, keep our fingers crossed, and hope that things will turn out well.
Whenever we become aware of events unfolding before us, we cannot but stop, think, and hope. Some events turn out wrong, and we wish that similar ones will no longer happen in the future. Others go right. We feel happy and look ahead to even better and more wonderful things.
We enjoy spending time with our friends, thinking about the years that lie ahead of us. We talk about our plans and dreams. Sometimes, our parents join us, and share with us their own plans and dreams for themselves and for us.
Many parents, who in their younger years had no opportunities to study, are now able to send their children to good schools, all the way to college. Some are more fortunate than others; they get good breaks in business and succeed in enriching themselves through their travels and studies abroad.
As we all know, we are happy to succeed in accomplishing something. Our parents and even our teachers share in our joy. On the other hand, we feel frustrated when we fail to achieve what we wanted to do. Fortunately, many of us are resilient enough to bounce back into the game of life, and use these moments of failure as stepping stones to even greater successes.
Well, my vision and goal in life is just simple as myself. Though I learned to our last meeting in the subject IT Elective that once we set our goals, we should grab the opportunity to dream big. I know dreaming big is good but for me I think I should take it as a step by step process. Once I achieved one of my goals, this is the time that I should go higher and proceed to the next one. I think this is better and a wise action for myself. I believe that in order for me not to be dismayed once I fail, I should not dream so big as if I am hallucinating.
As I foresee my life, I would like to see that someday I can finish my studies and wear a toga on the day of graduation. I would like to be a successful person and have a stable job after graduation. I picture out myself working in a company in good harmony with my co-workers. I see myself receiving my own salary as a product of my effort, sweat and endeavors. As a good son, I will really extend my help to my parents. I will help them in return to their goodness and for sending me to school. That would be the time that the situation is reverse, I am now the one supplying their needs considering that they became oldie. I see myself also having a business for other source of income. I would like also to see myself extending my help not only to my parents but also to others as long as I can afford it. If possible, I will engage myself into a charity work showing that I am very thankful for the blessings and graces I have. And lastly, I would like to see that someday I can give happiness to my parents and to others and become successful in a lot of ways.
Well of course, for it not to be just an illusion and senseless, I should set up my goal and purpose in life. My goal is to strive hard for success and to make a better future for myself and for my parents. My goal is to help and to make sure that every vision I dream will be granted.
Above all things, I cannot have those dreams if I don’t have trust in God and to myself. I cannot have those things if i don’t strive hard and become eager to achieve it. I should have to work and work for it. Our lives are too precious to waste or to take for granted. I should give my best shot!

Technopreneurship (Assignment 2)

"MY INSIGHTS TO PERSONALITY TEST"

Each one of us is very interested and paying much attention in being able to describe and assess our human personality. Human personality is the quality that makes each one of us a unique, matchless, distinctive, exclusive and sole person, different from others and only one of its kinds. It refers to the organized and structured behavior of every individual. The psychological meaning of the term personality is obviously very different from its lay meaning. For most laymen, personality refers to a person’s social appeal or popularity. Some people even speak of “amounts” of personality if someone is well thought of or likable and pleasant, he is said to have lot of personality. If he is retiring or shy, or if he is simply unpleasant, he is said to have little or no personality. For the psychologist, however, personality does not really occur in amounts; every person has a personality, because every person shows evidence and exhibits distinctive patterns of organized behavior and manner.
Personality test is any of several tests that consist of standardized tasks designed to determine various aspects of the personality or the emotional status of the individual examined. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/personality+test
Almost everyday we describe and assess the personalities of the people around us. Whether we realize it or not, these daily musings on how and why people behave as they do are similar to what personality psychologists do.
While our informal assessments of personality tend to focus more on individuals, personality psychologists instead use conceptions of personality that can apply to everyone. Personality research has led to the development of a number of theories that help explain how and why certain personality traits develop.
Components of Personality
While there are many different theories of personality, the first step is to understand exactly what is meant by the term personality. A brief definition would be that personality is made up of the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a person unique. In addition to this, personality arises from within the individual and remains fairly consistent throughout life.
Some of the fundamental characteristics of personality include:
• Consistency - There is generally a recognizable order and regularity to behaviors. Essentially, people act in the same ways or similar ways in a variety of situations.
• Psychological and physiological - Personality is a psychological construct, but research suggests that it is also influenced by biological processes and needs.
• Impact behaviors and actions - Personality does not just influence how we move and respond in our environment; it also causes us to act in certain ways.
• Multiple expressions - Personality is displayed in more than just behavior. It can also be seen in out thoughts, feelings, close relationships, and other social interactions.
There are a number of different theories about how personality develops. Different schools of thought in psychology influence many of these theories. Some of these major perspectives on personality include:
• Type theories are the early perspectives on personality. These theories suggested that there are a limited number of "personality types" which are related to biological influences.
• Trait theories viewed personality as the result of internal characteristics that are genetically based.
• Psychodynamic theories of personality are heavily influenced by the work of Sigmund Freud, and emphasize the influence of the unconscious on personality. Psychodynamic theories include Sigmund Freud’s psychosexual stage theory and Erik Erikson’s stages of psychosocial development.
• Behavioral theories suggest that personality is a result of interaction between the individual and the environment. Behavioral theorists study observable and measurable behaviors, rejecting theories that take internal thoughts and feelings into account. Behavioral theorists include B. F. Skinner and John Watson.
• Humanist theories emphasize the importance of free will and individual experience in the development of personality. Humanist theorists include Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow.< http://psychology.about.com/od/overviewofpersonality/a/persondef.htm>

For me, personality is a total or visible aspect of one's life that could be seen in naked eyes: the main behavioral appearance of every individual what he has in his life as human. It is also considered as the basis of measuring the qualification of a person most particularly in looking for a job, engaging in a business, mingling with others and etc. In addition, it is an absolute evidence of human's characteristic in the inner side of a person that nobody can deny the reality of being what she/he is and who he/she is as a special creation of God.
Before going into the side of technopreneurship, I would like to give and bestow information first about personality assessment for further understanding and to be able for you to have a little background about it.
Personology is the science of personality that describes and predicts the behavior of the individual. To do this he must develop techniques that permit him to characterize behavior and theories that permit him to account for the uniqueness of individual behavior. (General Psychology- Jane Q. Beltran)
There are lots and hundreds of different techniques in describing personality. Personality assessment is a broad-spectrum term that refers to the process of describing or evaluating every individual behavior. Psychologists have many practical and theoretical reasons for wanting to assess and evaluate personality. The industrial psychologist is faced with the problem of selecting and decides on the right people for particular kinds of job or job training and of predicting the future performance of his selectees. The clinical psychologist is concerned with understanding the personality functioning of persons in distress and misery, predicting the response of such persons to particular kinds of treatment, and evaluating the personality changes that result from psychological treatment. The research psychologist may be interested in studying personality changes that occur with age or as a result of particular kinds of experiences. He may be interested in the relationships between certain kinds of personality factors and other variables, like learning, endurance, memory, attitudes, and so on. The social psychologist is interested in the effects of social, economic and cultural factors upon personality development and patterning and in the manner in which different personalities interact with one another in various group situations. The personologists himself has an abiding interest in developing techniques that will enable him to describe individual behavior and to construct meaningful theories to account for the uniqueness of people. Those are the people who were concerned and help in evaluating individual behavior.
Personologist have developed techniques in describing personality. These major approaches to personality assessment evaluate individuality. One of it is personality inventories.
When we say personality inventories, sometimes called objective personality test are standardized questionnaires that are designed and intended to yield quantitative information about personality. Inventories provide, supply and afford objective samples of verbal behavior that can be converted into numerical scores and interpreted in terms of statistical norms. Basically, inventories are attempts to formalize and structure the psychological interview by substituting standardized, objective test items for the personal skill and subjective judgment of an interviewer. A subject’s performance is reported in terms of separate standard scores that indicate his/her relative standing along the following test scales.
There are some available assessments or personality evaluation could be taken up to become engaged in technopreneurship. These are the personality traits test, IQ test, AQ test and EQ test. Those tests would help you determine if you have the potentials, capacities and capabilities to become an entrepreneur. You can evaluate yourself if you possess some entrepreneurial characteristics. Those tests are very helpful in a way that through them, you can say that “oh, I have the potentials, why I would not engage myself into business. I think I can manage and handle myself” or the reverse one, “oh, I am not that good. Maybe I am not in line in business; I do not see any entrepreneurial characteristics within me”.
An intelligence quotient, or IQ, is a score derived from one of several different standardized tests designed to assess intelligence. The term "IQ", from the German Intelligenz-Quotient, was devised by the German psychologist William Stern in 1912 as a proposed method of scoring children's intelligence tests such as those developed by Alfred Binet and Théodore Simon in the early 20th Century.
Although the term "IQ" is still in common use, the scoring of modern IQ tests such as the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is now based on standard scoring of the subject's rank order on the test item content with the median score set to 100, and a standard deviation of 15, although not all tests adhere to that assignment of 15 IQ points to each standard deviation.
IQ scores have been shown to be associated with such factors as morbidity and mortality, parental social status, and to a substantial degree, parental IQ. While the heritability of IQ has been investigated for nearly a century, controversy remains regarding the significance of heritability estimates, and the mechanisms of inheritance are still a matter of some debate.
IQ scores are used in many contexts: as predictors of educational achievement or special needs, by social scientists who study the distribution of IQ scores in populations and the relationships between IQ score and other variables, and as predictors of job performance and income.
The average IQ scores for many populations have been rising at an average rate of three points per decade since the early 20th century, a phenomenon called the Flynn effect. It is disputed whether these changes in scores reflect real changes in intellectual abilities, or merely methodological problems with past or present testing.

In EQ (Emotional Quotient), it will test your abilities to perform under pressure, resolve conflict, and generally cope with challenges. Emotional intelligence (EI) describes the ability, capacity, skill or, in the case of the trait EI model, a self-perceived grand ability to identify, assess, manage and control the emotions of one's self, of others, and of groups. Different models have been proposed for the definition of EI and disagreement exists as to how the term should be used. Despite these disagreements, which are often highly technical, the ability EI and trait EI models (but not the mixed models) enjoy support in the literature and have successful applications in different domains.
The earliest roots of emotional intelligence can be traced to Darwin's work on the importance of emotional expression for survival and second adaptation. In the 1900s, even though traditional definitions of intelligence emphasized cognitive aspects such as memory and problem-solving, several influential researchers in the intelligence field of study had begun to recognize the importance of the non-cognitive aspects. For instance, as early as 1920, E.L. Thorndike used the term social intelligence to describe the skill of understanding and managing other people.
Similarly, in 1940 David Wechsler described the influence of non-intellective factors on intelligent behavior, and further argued that our models of intelligence would not be complete until we can adequately describe these factors. In 1983, Howard Gardner's Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences introduced the idea of multiple intelligences which included both Interpersonal intelligence (the capacity to understand the intentions, motivations and desires of other people) and Intrapersonal intelligence (the capacity to understand oneself, to appreciate one's feelings, fears and motivations). In Gardner's view, traditional types of intelligence, such as IQ, fail to fully explain cognitive ability. Thus, even though the names given to the concept varied, there was a common belief that traditional definitions of intelligence are lacking in ability to fully explain performance outcomes.
The first use of the term "emotional intelligence" is usually attributed to Wayne Payne's doctoral thesis, A Study of Emotion: Developing Emotional Intelligence from 1985. However, prior to this, the term "emotional intelligence" had appeared in Leuner (1966). Greenspan (1989) also put forward an EI model, followed by Salovey and Mayer (1990), and Goleman (1995). The distinction between trait emotional intelligence and ability emotional intelligence was introduced in 2000.
As a result of the growing acknowledgement by professionals of the importance and relevance of emotions to work outcomes, the research on the topic continued to gain momentum, but it wasn't until the publication of Daniel Goleman's best seller Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ that the term became widely popularized. Nancy Gibbs' 1995 Time magazine article highlighted Goleman's book and was the first in a string of mainstream media interest in EI. < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotional_intelligence>
In AQ (Adversity Quotient), it will test you on how you cope with hardships or afflictions.
Dr. Paul Stoltz defines Adversity Quotient as “the capacity of the person to deal with the adversities of his life. As such, it is the science of human resilience.”

For many years, researchers have devoted a great deal of their studies to Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ), which are considered to be determinants of success and superior accomplishment. A decade ago (1997), Paul Stoltz introduced a new yet interesting & intriguing concept – Adversity Quotient (AQ), which tells how well one withstands adversity and his ability to triumph over it. In fact, more researches recently have shown that measurement of AQ is a better index in achieving success than IQ, education or even social skills.

By understanding the concept of AQ we can better understand how we and others react to challenge and adversity in all aspects of our lives. In fact, how people respond to adversity is a strong indicator of ability to succeed in many endeavors.

Personality trait test is an instrument, as a questionnaire or series of standardized tasks, used to measure personality characteristics or to discover personality disorders.

Personality psychology is a branch of psychology that studies personality and individual differences. Its areas of focus include:
• Constructing a coherent picture of a person and his or her major psychological processes
• Investigating individual differences, that is, how people can differ from one another.
• Investigating human nature, that is, how all people's behavior is similar.
Personality can be defined as a dynamic and organized set of characteristics possessed by a person that uniquely influences his or her cognitions, motivations, and behaviors in various situations. The word "personality" originates from the Latin persona, which means mask. Significantly, in the theatre of the ancient Latin-speaking world, the mask was not used as a plot device to disguise the identity of a character, but rather was a convention employed to represent or typify that character.
The pioneering American psychologist, Gordon Allport (1937) described two major ways to study personality, the nomothetic and the idiographic. Nomothetic psychology seeks general laws that can be applied to many different people, such as the principle of self-actualization, or the trait of extraversion. Idiographic psychology is an attempt to understand the unique aspects of a particular individual.
The study of personality has a broad and varied history in psychology, with an abundance of theoretical traditions. The major theories include dispositional (trait) perspective, psychodynamic, humanistic, biological, behaviorist and social learning perspective. There is no consensus on the definition of "personality" in psychology. Most researchers and psychologists do not explicitly identify themselves with a certain perspective and often take an eclectic approach. Some research is empirically driven such as the "Big 5" personality model whereas other research emphasizes theory development such as psychodynamics. There is also a substantial emphasis on the applied field of personality testing. In psychological education and training, the study of the nature of personality and its psychological development is usually reviewed as a prerequisite to courses in abnormal or clinical psychology.< http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personality_psychology>
In technopreneurship, you do not need a very high IQ (intelligence Quotient) but what you need most are the EQ (Emotional Quotient) and AQ (Adversity Quotient) and you have the personality. Yes, that is true. Though you don’t have high IQ (intelligence Quotient), the important is you are more specialized on how you react emotionally to various situations and how you deal with hardships.
Last August 4, 2010, our instructor conducted a test and it is all about Personality trait. We had given questionnaires to be answered by only “A” and “B” choices. Afterwards, we tallied our scores and interpret what we had got. My score is 32 and its corresponding meaning is neutral. When we say neutral, it is telling me that I am not so capable to become an entrepreneur or i have the potentials and the entrepreneurial characteristics; I am in the middle. It is telling me that somehow I can be a technopreneur someday or not. For me, of course when I found out that I am neutral, I should decide if I should engage myself into business and when I decide that I go to business and I think I can handle myself in business career, it is my prerogative that I must develop my characteristics. Push my entrepreneurial skills and enhance my personality.
Well, about to my personality, these are the positive personalities I could say to myself.
I can say that I am a hardworking type of person. I work hard for the name of success. I think in order to have a comfortable life, I should work and work and do all I can.
I can say that I value perseverance, willing to take the consequences and very eager.
I am observant. When I meet people, I keep silent first and observe his/her behavior. If I think we will fit together, that is the time I come out to my shell. But if I think we will not, I just try be like by him taking chance for us to be compatible in a little way.
I can say that I am a type of person that knows to consider situations. When I know that there are factors that affects the situation, I leave it at is and just understand the situation. So I can say that I am patient as well to that situation/s.
I can learn easily. I am a fast learner especially if I see myself has interest with it. I can simply learn straightforwardly if I think that I am much capable with the thing. I can easily follow instructions.
If I know I’m committed, I do not do things which could break those commitments. I am very much careful with the commitments I have, whether at work or to other people I am dealing with. I have the pure principles in life that I must follow. I respect my work, my friend and my family. “Work is work, friend is friend, and family is family.”
I am persistent. I am not that type of person that easily gives up. I fight for the name of success. I am goal-oriented as well. If I think that it is too hard to achieve, I find ways and I strive hard for it. But if I think that I cannot really achieve it, that’s the time I give up and let go, at least I have tried my best and I will just charge it to experience. Though it is called a failure one but one thing for sure, I have the armor for the next battle.
I can work in good harmony. Well, when it comes to work I can do my job with others peacefully. I have the aura that anyone could like me to be their co-worker. I am not fun of engaging myself into fights and troubles. I can work with them in a way that I am not making any issues and troubles against them. I respect others.
I am approachable. Anytime I can be reached by you. I am easy to talk and to deal with. So people don’t have to be shy just to approach me or take time to adjust because I am so accessible.
I can easily think practical solutions. Well, when I encounter problems I always think for practical solutions to which I can benefit more with less costs because I think practical solutions are better. I don’t have to think much of the problem instead i give fast and possible solutions practically.
I can easily adapt environment. I can easily adjust to those environments which I think I am capable. I can go easily with the environment because I can say I am a good imitator.
I am reliable. Everyone can trust me. I am worthy of dependence and reliance. When someone gives me some tasks to do, I make sure that I did not give them failures. I can keep secrets and anyone can rely on me.
I know how to listen others concern. I respect others. I give time just to hear their sides. Sometimes I hear first their ideas and concerns before I will do the action because I know that it should not be all mine. I should consider as well their concerns.
I am a risk taker too. Sometimes, I go directly to the point sacrificing something just for the opportunity.
I am jolly. I am a type of person that always keeps smiling. I do not mind problems seriously. I must have to enjoy myself rather than thinking problems as if there were no solutions.
I am beauty conscious as well. I take time just to make myself beautiful and pleasant to see. I do not want myself look like as if I have lots of problem, very stress! For me, looks is very important as well so I need to take care my beauty and make sure that in every angle of my face, I look stunning, fresh and gorgeous. LOL!
I am sensitive to the feelings of others. I am very sensitive and profound to what the others feel and react to certain situations. I am sensitive to what the other people feel towards my behavior that is why I am very careful to my emotions. I prefer much to care the emotions of other people than my emotions which I made myself a martyr one. Though somehow it is not that good for me because I must have took time to think of myself but then it’s a reminder for me that I still have the room for improvement.
I always grab opportunity. I really love opportunities. When I think that I more capable of the subject, I grab it without thinking twice because I am confident enough that I could perform it well.
I enjoy much to be with my friends. I think I can do easily the task with the help of my friends. I love my friends and I am more comfortable to do my duties with them. Sometimes, I imagine that as we finish our studies, we will work together.
I also have personalities that are not good to see. And I think this would be the hindrance of my success.
Sometimes, I can easily lose my temper. I lose my temper when I see people cannot understand easily especially those hard-headed people. Well it’s not that I am very fun for perfection. I know this is not good that is why I have to change it slowly.
I shout sometimes if when I cannot control myself from anger but this is not a major problem because it is not always happening in me but then it still bad and have to be eradicated in my behavior.
I am over-looking to the success. I think that it is near to me always. I get so over energized, so “hot” to get the success which is not good. I must have to wait and take it as step-by-step process.
I always count for the cost consumed. I should not count for it was normal. You have to consume some cost in return to the things I want to happen in my life.
Sometimes when I have problem, I easily get destructed from it.
I am too much ambitious. As a result of it, some of my visions are very far out from the reality. It seems that I am hallucinating, imagining and thinking things were just easy.
Sometimes when I reach succession, I have the tendency become a greedy one. My head become bigger as if
I prioritize pride. Sometimes just because of the name of pride I am making my self not over-powered by other people which was good but if I get too much, I am making myself superior from others; Superior in away that I became boastful.

Technopreneurship ( Assignment 1)

1.      What are the factors that contributed to the success and failures of Steve Job as a technopreneur?

In real world, we experience successes and failures.
We experience success if we strive hard for our goal with focus and desire. Success is indeed the result of positive outlook in life, patience and perseverance. As quoted by an unknown author, “Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success”. It is true because in order to attain success we should be patient enough, determined and work for it. We should also believe to our self and to our full power that we can do the challenge and fulfill our desired goal.
In addition, to attain success, we still need to value hardwork and learn to sacrifice. How can we become successful if we were just sitting at the side and wait something will happen? It should not be like that. We are making our self like a dressed chicken having no head, no visions in life.
I believe in the saying “There is no glory without sacrifice” and as quoted by David Bly “Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven't planted”. In short, you have to work and work for you to be able to achieve your goals and satisfy your visions in life.
On the other side, if we have success there is failure.
Failure took place when we don’t try our best and we gave in to some problems, challenges and trials. As quoted by an unknown author, “the only real failure in life is the failure to try”.
Of course, failure usually happens when we don’t have focus and we are always thinking things were just easy but it doesn’t mean failures were all negative. In fact, through failures we learned and gain intelligence for as we failed, it will be charge to experience. Sometimes, before we attain success, we experience failures. And these failures will remind us to give more our best for the next. “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall” by Confucius.
Dealing to those successes and failures, there are factors that made it become a “success” and a “failure”.
Once you are technopreneur, it doesn’t mean that you own a business and have a comfortable life you are always experiencing success. There are points of your lives that you commit mistakes and fail. There are factors that affect what’s your standing now and what you are today.
Going back to the movie which was entitled “The Pirates of the Silicon Valley,” Steven Jobs in the movie became successful in the field of Technopreneurship but then failed at the end. As one of the viewer of the said movie, here are my perceptions why he became successful and failed at a certain range of time.
TRIVIA:
Question:
Why is it called The Pirates of the Silicon Valley?
Answer:
Bill Gates used other peoples' ideas like DOS and Apple's operating system. Steve Jobs and Apple acquired the mouse and GUI from Xerox without paying a dime or doing any work. They were like pirates.

Silicon Valley is the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California, United States. The term originally referred to the region's large number of silicon chip innovators and manufacturers, but eventually came to refer to all the high-tech businesses in the area; it is now generally used as a metonym for the American high-tech sector. (http://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100702193014AACeTDA)
The factors for his success are the following:
·         Hardworking – Steven Jobs works hard for the success of his visions. He, together with his friend Woz, was very eager to produce remarkably electronic products and have hard time negotiating their products to some ventures.
·         Persevere – Steven Jobs is very persevering in a way that he is very committed to his work. Though he was on a difficult race he still cross the finish line. For him, accomplishment of work is more important.
·         Focused – Steven Jobs was really focused doing his work. He was never tempted to be involved to some playful activities.
·         Innovative – Steven Jobs really posses this one. We can’t deny the fact that he was intensely having bright ideas in the movie. His works was called stylistically innovative works, very unique!
·         Persistent- Steven Jobs don’t give up. He was insistently repetitive and continuous to his work though his work at first was rejected and not recognized. He believes that he can really make what he wants.
·         Risk-Taker – Steven Jobs gambles his self for the betterment of his work. Everything he owned was put into risk just for progress and productivity increase. He even dropped out to his school for him to focus his time in developing a personal computer.

The factors for his failure are the following:
·         Abusive – Steven Jobs abuses the time of his employees. He even obliges his employees to work with no vacant hours. As a founder of the company, you should know how to respect others time. He was became an inconsiderate one.
·         Arrogant – Steven Jobs became rude to his employees. He was displaying a sense of overbearing self-worth. I think due to his big success, he was blinded by it. He likes to scream his employees when he doesn’t want the output.
·         Perfectionist – Steven Jobs aims that all will be on perfect side. The problem is he became an “over-perfectionist” in a sense that he seems like degrading his employee. He was stickler for neatness. He doesn’t consider what was his employees strength.
·         Impatient – Steven Jobs always lose his temper easily. I think that is the result when was engage into drugs. He is a short-tempered boss that is why he hated by his employees.
·         Oblivious – Steven Jobs was not aware at first that his employee was starting to hate him. He was so insensitive to the feelings of his employees every time he screams and acts like as if he was over-powered.
·         Irresponsible Father – Steven Jobs refused that the he was the father of the baby. I think he was unblessed by God that cause his failure.
In the year 1976, Steven Jobs started his time become a successful one wherein at the computer fair his work was recognized by many. That was the year where Apple I was developed.
But in the year in 1985, Steven Jobs was fired out by John Sculley from Apple Computer.
In the year 1997, Steven Jobs returned to Apple. That was the time also where it was announced the alliance of Apple and Microsoft.

            2. How do you see yourself as a technopreneur?
Before I will answer that question, I would like to point and stress out some basic information about Technopreneurship. The information I will give you is my learning and understanding as I enrolled myself in the course IT Elective (Technopreneurship). These would help me determine myself if I will be a good entrepreneur someday.
As what I have learned to our last discussion in It Elective (Technopreneurship), Technopreneurship is a compounded word coming from Technology and Entrepreneurship. It is indeed in a process of entrepreneurship wherein technologies are involved.
One of the ideas of Technopreneurship is to change the usual mindset of a person into an alternative mindset. When we say usual mindset, the flow is – you go to school- gain knowledge- get a job- become an employee- and then earn money. That is the common mindsets of most people now even our parents who sent us to school. But through Technopreneurship, that mindset is reversed. From a usual mindset it turns to an alternative mindset. When we say alternative mindset, the schema is – first, you go to school- gain knowledge- and then own a business (company) - and become an employer. See the difference? That’s the power of Technopreneurship.
There are lots of benefits we can get in dealing with Technopreneurship. As what our professor has presented and taught us during our discussion, through Technopreneurship there is employment creation, promotion of technologies, capital formation and promotion of an entrepreneurial culture.
·         Employment creation – there is much employment opportunity for the people. Like for example you own a business. You need an employee who can work with you. You can help other people have a job and work for your company. As a result, the average of employment in the city could probably increase.
·         Promotion of Technologies- the more people who were engage in Technopreneurship, the more the technology will be recognized. In other words, technology will become famous in the eyes of everybody. They can see that working with Technologies is better and easy.
·         Promotion of an Entrepreneurial Culture- If most of the people get involved in the field of Technopreneurship, it is very possible that the entrepreneurial culture of a certain city will increase. It is because you can influence other people to be in the same field as means of source of income. Since you have seen by them in a good situation in the field, it is easy for them to be persuaded and have an interest to become a Technopreneur.
The term “technopreneur” by the way refers to the person, an entrepreneur, who is involved in high technologies.
To become an entrepreneur, you do not need a very high IQ (intelligence Quotient) but what you need most are the EQ (Emotional Quotient) and AQ (Adversity Quotient).  Yes, that is true. Though you don’t have high IQ (intelligence Quotient), the important is you are more specialized on how you react emotionally to various situations and how you deal with hardships.
In EQ (Emotional Quotient), it will test your abilities to perform under pressure, resolve conflict, and generally cope with challenges.
In AQ (Adversity Quotient), it will test you on how you cope with hardships or afflictions.
As an entrepreneur, you should know yourself clearly. You should know your visions and goals. Know yourself if you possess some entrepreneurial characteristics. These includes hardworking, self-confident, profit-oriented, goal-oriented, persistent, demonstrate initiative, builds for the future, responds to feedback, willing to listen, set own standards, cope with uncertainty, committed, builds on strength, reliable and has integrity and risk taker. (http://www.scribd.com/doc/19286668/Module-12Basics-of-Technopreneurship) If you possess mostly those characteristics, you have a capability to become an entrepreneur.
Another is you should be environmental mastered, enterprise mastered, and knows how to develop your business plan.
Environmental mastery is generating ideas and opportunities out from our environment. That can be done through serendipity walks, as you go along with crisis, trends and anything that we can get out from our environment. Describing those environmental mastered person, he sees much opportunities than thinking of the problem, he knows to understand where industry he is in, he is on top of the situation and etc.
An enterprise mastery refers to running ones business. It pertains to the knowledge of the different enterprise disciplines—creating the business, financial management, marketing management, operation management and etc).
Developing business plan refers to writing, presenting and defending the business plan. You add refinements to it and develop what have you planned before.
So if I ask myself now, do I have those characteristics? Do I possess the masteries (environment and enterprise)? Am I deserving become an entrepreneur? I can say that I have potentials in becoming an entrepreneur. All I need to do is to develop more those characteristics I have and learn to have those I don’t possess. I know as I become an entrepreneur someday, I will possess slowly those characteristics. Though I can’t really say that I can see myself engaged to that field, but for job sake I know this field would be really helpful to me. Maybe someday I’ll be working as entrepreneur does.  This field is in line to my course. And if time and opportunity will allow me,
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to own big IT Company.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like my IT Company be recognized throughout the world.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like my IT Company being trusted by mass people.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to have branches in every region.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like my IT Company an Eco-friendly.

·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to have a partnership with good Filipino ventures and capitalist.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to have a partnership with my IT friends and IT classmates.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to be recognized worldwide.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to see myself together with famous Entrepreneurs worldwide.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to influence other people using my achievements.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to have extended company out of the country, Philippines.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to engage myself in providing and developing IT hubs.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to see myself a good role model to others.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to hire deserving people to work with my company.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to screen thoroughly the interested employees with different exams/test.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to manage my It Company in good harmony with my employees.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to see myself happy and contented.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to help promote entrepreneurial culture.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to help promote technologies.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to see myself with lots of opportunities.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to be not just hardworking but willing to listen with others concern.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to satisfy my one goal which is to have a charity.
·         As an entrepreneur, I would like to help those people who are in need.
That’s what I see myself if I will become an entrepreneur someday. I know that with my thoughts, it seems that I am just imagining, exaggerating and hallucinating. But then, to tell you honestly, that’s what I want to have and gain when I will become an entrepreneur.
I know it is hard and needs to have a step-by-step process but I can assure myself that in order for me to attain those, I need to work for it and strive hard. I should see myself as an ambitious one, but not too ambitious.
I do believe with my strength and capabilities. In fact, I can site some characteristics which I possessed already.
·         I can learn easily. I am a fast learner especially if I see myself has interest with it.
·         If I know I’m committed, I do not do things which could break those commitments.
·         I am persistent. I am not that type of person that easily gives up.
·         I can work in good harmony.
·         I am approachable.
·         I can easily think practical solutions.
·         I can easily adapt environment.
·         I am reliable. Everyone can trust me. I am worthy of dependence and reliance.
·         I know how to listen others concern.
·         I am a risk taker too.
Motivation will also help me become a successful entrepreneur someday.

3. Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or Why not?
The movie entitled “The Pirates of the Silicon Valley” is a 1999 film based on the book “Fire in the Valley: The Making of The Personal Computer” by Paul Freiberger and Michael Swaine. It is a made-for-television docudrama written and directed by Martyn Burke which documents the rise of the home computer (personal computer) through the rivalry between Apple Computer and Microsoft. The film stars Anthony Michael Hall as Bill Gates and Noah Wyle as Steve Jobs. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_Silicon_Valley)
Steve Job in the movie became successful in the year 1976, as he developed the Apple I together with his friend Steve Wozniak. On the computer fair, their work was recognized by lots of people and that was the start that lots of ventures and capitalists invested to their product. That was the start of his big success but as he became successful, he was blinded by it. He engaged his self into drugs that possibly affect his attitude and relationship with others. He likes to scream on his employees and become inconsiderate and abusive.
But if you don’t just look at the negative side of Steve job, you can see his positive characteristics like what I have mentioned on question number 1. Steve Job possesses the value of hardworking, perseverance, and persistence. He is also an innovative man and a risk-taker.  Those characteristics are the factors that made him become successful.
In the year 1985, after he was given a birthday blowout, he was fired by CEO John Sculley from Apple Computer.
In 1997, Jobs returns to Apple after its acquisition of NeXT, and Bill Gates appears live via satellite at a MacWorld Expo, during Jobs' first Stevenote keynote address, to announce an alliance between Apple and Microsoft. It notes at the end that Gates, at that time, was the richest man in the world.
Steve Jobs’s achievement and attainment is not a joke. It was really a big success. He was totally amazing because a person like him is a man with brilliant ideas, a man with unusual and incomparable skills and a man with a great legacy. I salute him!
For me, the legacy he gives us is the product that he invented before that we people took benefits. I know Steven Jobs’s were really famous because of it and he deserves it. In fact, it was not the product alone that he gave as a legacy but also the challenge he handed down to us  IT students.
He is a good example to IT students like me who is interested to become an entrepreneur someday. Through his achievement, I get inspired and challenge that someday I can be successful too. There is nothing wrong in dreaming, as long as you put it into your heart and put into actions.
So if I will be ask if I would take the same career path that Steve Jobs took, my answer is “Yes, why not!” Since I am an IT student and my course is related to technologies, I can say that I am capable to that career path. But not the same as Steven Jobs like making hardware, software and etc. Because I know for this time, I cannot trust myself making hardware and software. I know my strength and mental capacity. I can work with the use of technologies, I can work with IT companies and I can work like an entrepreneur but not as geniuses can. When we say career path, it is a job responsibility in the same field (Technopreneurship) using technologies as you work. It does not directly imply that you have to deal with making hardware and software alone. There are lots of works in the field of Technopreneurship wherein I can possibly engage myself. For example, content writer, web developer, web designer and etc.
Honestly speaking, if I have the characteristics same as Steven Job, I will not think twice to make hardware and software. How I wish that I can be like Steven Job on positive side.
As an interested technopreneur, it is really an opportunity for me to work with technologies. Knowing the fact that our generation now is using technologies why I would keep myself to the opportunity where I could apply my learnings in school as an IT student.
In my course, Information Technology, I can say that I am very exposed to computers. Computers are part of technologies. Studying Information Technology is really very hard. I know there’s no such easy and simple course but if I am to compare my course to others, it’s really challenging and oblige me to have full effort. It requires me to have logical reasoning and critical thinking.
Defining Information Technology, it is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of information systems. Information technology is a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate, and/or disseminate information. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_technology)
In my course, I can say that I must have to possess patience, hardwork, perseverance, and ability to accept failures and a lot more. As you have notice, those characteristics I should possess is similar to entrepreneurial characteristics. That is why my course is much related to Technopreneurship. Because IT students like me, are most capable of doing what entrepreneur does. We have much the opportunities compared to nursing students, biological students, engineering students and etc.
In my course, I am slowly mold to become an effective IT person. I do believe that I will graduate on time no matter how long my course takes.
In contradiction, I know that we can be successful in a lot of way not just as Steven Jobs’s career path. We can be rich in a lot of ways. We can earn money though we are not an entrepreneur. It depends to ones way of living and choice of career.
